I took this near the end of the day, intentionally exposing for the floodlights that had turned on but weren’t terribly noticeable yet. The negative came out like this, and can be easily adjusted to be much lighter. It produces a good photograph, but nowhere near as interesting as this one, for me.
The cloud cover really comes out here despite, or probably because of, being so dark. The second floodlight takes a little bit to notice. I love the compisition that we get. I take a lot of photographs of floodlight towers and other human made structures like this, isolated somewhere in a corner of an image with a lot of negative space.
The sky, which I have to be honest was a surprise in development, makes the picture. And it does end up rather dark. But it was a very encouraging picture - sometimes I question my tendency to take pictures of “the same thing” but results like this are encouraging.
